Booked and Introduced: Dianne Walker-Brown
I’m so excited to introduce you to Dianne Walker-Brown, the author of the children’s book I LOVE YOU BIGGER THAN THE UNIVERSE, which releases September 8, 2026. Tell us a little about yourself and the kinds of books you write.
I grew up on the south coast of England and was raised with the books of great children’s authors like Enid Blyton, Beatrix Potter, and A. A. Milne. Since retiring from a career as an Intellectual Property paralegal, I returned to my love of writing and began crafting children’s stories of my own. My two adult children and my granddaughter are my biggest cheerleaders. I enjoy chocolate, traveling to new places, and adventuring in my beautiful home state of Arizona.
Where did the idea for your current or most recent book come from?
My current book had its origins in a game we used to play when my kids were little. I was a single mom with no budget for movies or other extras, so we entertained ourselves by making up simple games. How big do I love you? was one of our favorites-and how “I Love You Bigger Than The Universe” was born.
What kinds of books do you reach for when you are reading purely for fun?
I read many different genres, but my guilty pleasures are crime fiction, and romance. Nothing like love or untimely death to make the heart beat faster!
What is a book you never get tired of recommending?
This is a hard one! To make it a little easier, I’ll stick to children’s literature and go with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis, and The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Both take children into wonderful worlds filled with adventure!
What are you working on now, and where can readers find you and your books?
While I’m waiting for my Christmas picture book to be released in September 2027 with Lawley Publishing, I’m finalizing and polishing several other rhyming picture book manuscripts. My current favorite (and hopefully my next to publish) is titled TRUE.
